Merck

(Southport Services Group)

GATOR is a mobile dashboard product that my company built for Merck on the Microstrategy platform. It is a custom design providing field sales representatives business metrics and visualizations for improving sales and sales management.

Myself and another designer churned out the work for this product, which had an aggressive timeline and furious pace.

My Roles

Visual Design, Prototyping, User Stories

Tools and Technologies

Sketch, InVision, UXPressia, Draw.io (for sitemaps)

The Challenge

On a scale of 1 to 10 for difficulty, this was a 10! It was my first project at the company and the work was performed exclusively remote with dispersed teams.

The task was to design and release 10 dashboard modules within 6 Months. Each module contained roughly 20 screens, not including interactive pieces.

This was my first dedicated BI project ever, so underestanding that language took some research. I interviewed the product teams and learned term, abbreviations and visualizations the best I could within a short window. In addition to BI terminology, Pharma and Merck's product lines have their own language, so I had to pickup that as well.

Design Process

The design had been established, so this was basically a project of working with team leads and developers to distill user stories and sitemaps into presentable content. Based off my sessions with team members, I created hi-fidelity mocku-ups and created prototypes through InVision. We used the comments tool heavily to communicate edits and revisions from both a design and clerical perspective.
